Vault
A GenAI assistant for regulated financial-services teams, built around Vietnam's data-residency requirements — relationship-manager facing, retrieval-grounded, and architected so customer data at rest never leaves the country.
What Vault is
Vault is scoped as an internal, RM-facing assistant, not a customer-facing chatbot. RMs ask natural-language questions about products, policies and rates; Vault retrieves from the bank's document corpus and answers with cited sources — keeping the regulatory bar realistic for a first deployment into a regulated FSI environment.
A first deployment into a bank's production environment already carries enough compliance surface area. Scoping to an internal RM user, not an end customer, avoids stacking customer-consent and liability questions on top of data-residency and PII requirements on day one.
Origin
Vault didn't start as a banking product. Its retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) foundation is the same architecture EFFOMA has built for enterprise document Q&A since 2023, including a Vietnamese-legal-corpus embedding benchmark and an early LoRA fine-tuning pipeline. In 2025, EFFOMA refactored it into a residency-aware variant for financial-services customers — betting that AWS would eventually bring infrastructure physically into Vietnam. That bet paid off on 19 June 2026, when the AWS Hanoi Local Zone reached general availability with day-one customers including VIB, VPBank, Techcombank, MoMo and Vinamilk. Vault v2.0, shipped the following month, integrates the Local Zone directly.
| Milestone ▲ | Date | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| RAG foundation built | 2023 | Enterprise document Q&A, shared lineage with EFFOMA's broader knowledge-platform work |
| Vietnamese-legal-corpus benchmark + LoRA pipeline | 2024 | −40% hallucination on domain terminology vs. prompt engineering alone |
| FSI residency-aware refactor | Early 2025 | RM-facing scope, Comprehend PII pipeline, VPC-isolated inference path |
| AWS Hanoi Local Zone reaches GA | 19 Jun 2026 | EC2, S3 One Zone-IA, Direct Connect land physically in Vietnam |
| Vault v2.0 | Jul 2026 | Local Zone integrated; data-at-rest relocated in-country |
